Gavin Turrell

Covenanted property: 54ha property (Bellusdene) in central Victoria, which is 100% protected under a Trust for Nature covenant. The primary ecological vegetation classes on the property are Grassy woodland/Derived grassland and Riparian Zone. Bellusdene is part of the Trust for Nature High Camp cluster, a group of eight contiguously joined covenanted properties that form a single conservation landscape of over 650ha of land on Taungurung Country.

Interest: Ecological restoration and revegetation, freshwater ecology, native grassland restoration.


Bio: Prior to his retirement, Gavin had a career in the university sector, where he was Professor of Public Health and Social Epidemiology at universities in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne. The substantive focus of his research was designing liveable cities to promote healthy ageing.
