Launch of LCV's iNaturalist project

We want you, and your observations, for our iNaturalist project

We are excited to launch the LCV iNaturalist project. This is a place where we can share observations of plants and animals seen on covenanted properties across Victoria.

We see this as another way LCV can foster community amongst those of us managing and protecting private land habitats.

You can help us by:

  1. Joining the LCV iNaturalist project and submitting your observations
  2. Letting us know if you have special identifications skills to help us verify observations.

What's iNaturalist?

iNaturalist allows users to take pictures of plants, animals, fungi and other organisms and upload them to the iNaturalist community. By using the app, you'll receive help with identification from a network of experts and fellow enthusiasts. The computer vision algorithm is also scarily accurate at suggesting identifications for some species.

iNaturalist also contributes valuable information to scientific research and conservation efforts. For example, Bass Coast Landcare is currently looking for observations of Lace Monitors and Koalas. We could search LCV’s iNat project for observations and send them through. (In the meantime, if you have Monitor or Koala observations, you can send them directly to jye.anderson@basscoastlandcare.org.au).

Don't worry, there's lots more information on our iNaturalist page.

Land Covenantors Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Victoria and their deep connections to land, water and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today. Contact: info@landcovenantors.org.au
