Our volunteer committee meet once a month via zoom, and occasionally invite a guest speaker to present on topics that may be of interest to our members.

In May we were delighted to meet Krista Patterson-Majoor, BushBank Program Manager at Cassinia Environmental. Krista provided an overview of the BushBank Program with a focus on the Private Land Stream. It’s an ambitious program aiming to restore 20,000 hectares of land and protect these properties with a Trust for Nature conservation covenant.

We are sharing Krista’s presentation here which provides detail on:

• What land is eligible
• Are there priority areas
• What can projects include
• What are the restoration standards
• How are projects selected
• Agreements, funding models and incentives
• Progress so far
• How to express interest

Properties that already have a covenant in place are eligible but check with the BushBank team about the requirements for “new” revegetation versus supplementary planting or facilitating natural regeneration.
